Rebecca Kadaga’s explosive revelation of assassination attempts is a horrifying testament to the depravity and decay at the core of Uganda’s political system under the NRM. It’s no secret that this government thrives on violence and fear, but to hear that one of their own, a long-serving and loyal cadre like Kadaga, has become a target? That’s proof of the wickedness festering within the corridors of power.
What kind of monstrous system have we allowed to grow in Uganda, where even someone as high up as Kadaga isn’t safe from death plots orchestrated by government cronies? How utterly rotten must things be when the NRM’s answer to political competition is assassination? The fact that Kadaga, with all her years of service and influence, has to dodge murder schemes shows just how filthy the political game has become in this regime. It’s an outright disgrace.
Kadaga’s question cuts right to the core of this madness: if you have votes, why resort to murder? That one question shines a spotlight on the disgusting way the NRM holds onto power—by choking out any perceived threat, even if it means killing their own. It’s a despicable strategy, one that’s been normalized in Uganda’s political landscape, where life is cheap and power is everything.
The assassination attempts on Kadaga weren’t the work of some rogue elements; they bear the fingerprints of those embedded deep within the NRM. The unnamed leader behind these plots clearly views Kadaga as a threat that needs to be extinguished, no matter the cost. Whoever they are, they are a vile part of the inner circle, driven by greed, fear, or the twisted desire to hold onto power by any means necessary. They’d rather see Kadaga dead than risk her growing influence within the party.
Let’s not sugarcoat it: these were calculated, cold-blooded murder plots. The sheer audacity of paying Shs15 million to sugarcane truckers to ram Kadaga’s convoy shows just how much human life means to these killers—absolutely nothing. When that failed, they tried again, hiring thugs to stage a deadly “accident.” This isn’t politics; this is murder disguised as strategy, a hallmark of the NRM’s reign of terror.
And what has the government done about it? Absolutely nothing. Radio silence. Kadaga’s claims have been met with the same indifference that every act of violence from this regime receives. Reporting it to the police would be a waste of time because we all know the police serve only one purpose: protecting the NRM’s interests. Uganda’s security forces are complicit in these horrors, tools of a regime that uses violence to silence and subdue.
The hypocrisy is maddening. The NRM preaches peace and democracy, but their actions are the exact opposite. They fund and arm gangs to terrorize their own citizens, and now they’re turning those guns on their own leaders. Kadaga’s life hangs in the balance, and the government doesn’t bat an eyelid. It’s clear now more than ever that no one is safe in Uganda—not the opposition, preachers of democracy, not even the NRM’s loyal cadres.
Kadaga’s story is a reminder of the foul decay within Uganda’s leadership. The NRM is a regime fueled by blood and corruption, and if we don’t wake up to this reality, these monsters will continue to tighten their grip, snuffing out any hope of a future free from their violence. It’s time to expose this evil for what it truly is before they murder us all in their quest for eternal power.
