General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s recent tweets have once again exposed his delusional sense of self-importance and dangerous worldview, amplifying his ever-growing egotism and reckless aspirations. With the audacity to present himself as both a religious leader and a geopolitical strategist, Muhoozi is determined to showcase himself as a savior of Uganda, despite his track record of dictatorial tendencies and an army that exists to perpetuate his family’s grip on power.
In his first tweet, Muhoozi proudly quotes a passage from the Nicene Creed, attempting to align himself with divine authority. The self-proclaimed “Tweeting General” is trying to present himself as a man of faith, but the irony is overwhelming. His reference to the Nicene Creed’s proclamation of Jesus Christ’s death, resurrection, and ascension only serves to highlight how far removed his actions are from the teachings of Christ. While he mouths religious platitudes, his actions tell a completely different story—one of oppression, authoritarianism, and cruelty. Muhoozi’s belief in the “invincibility” of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) is just another attempt to mask the truth: that the UPDF is nothing more than a tool for the Kainerugaba family to maintain control over Uganda through brute force and fear.
His comments on the BRICS bloc are equally troubling. Muhoozi’s musings about the European Union potentially joining BRICS reflect a dangerous naivety and disregard for the complexities of international relations. It’s laughable that he believes Uganda, under his leadership, could leverage such global dynamics for the country’s benefit. Instead of focusing on the wellbeing of his people, Muhoozi is fixated on a misguided fantasy of Uganda being part of a new world order, where he imagines himself as a global power broker. This is the same man who, rather than addressing the poverty, corruption, and systemic abuse in Uganda, seeks to align himself with countries that have long histories of authoritarianism and human rights violations.
Muhoozi’s suggestion that Uganda should seek “most favoured nation” (MFN) status with the United States is equally delusional. How does a country with a military under the thumb of a single family and a leader whose only claim to fame is nepotism and authoritarianism expect to garner such respect on the global stage? Muhoozi’s ambition for tariff-free access to U.S. markets and security agreements with the West is an insult to the millions of Ugandans living in destitution. The General, who has done nothing to uplift his people, would rather grandstand on the world stage than address the systemic issues of corruption, unemployment, and human rights abuses plaguing Uganda.
The General’s announcement that he performed 100 push-ups in honor of the Kabaka of Buganda’s birthday is a pathetic attempt at garnering respect, not only for himself but for his family’s grip on power. Muhoozi, a man who thrives on showing off his physical prowess and self-absorbed tendencies, cannot mask the reality of his family’s tyrannical rule. In a country where ordinary Ugandans are struggling to survive, Muhoozi’s infantile celebration of his own “strength” is both tone-deaf and reprehensible.
Lastly, Muhoozi’s dismissive and almost mocking comment about not being a “TikTok General” perfectly encapsulates his arrogance. While the people of Uganda are crying out for change and reform, Muhoozi chooses to trivialize the concerns of his citizens by focusing on social media gimmicks. His behavior reeks of a man completely out of touch with reality, more interested in cultivating a cult of personality than in serving his people.
Muhoozi Kainerugaba is not a man of faith, nor is he a global statesman. He is a dangerous egomaniac whose vision for Uganda is one rooted in personal power, military dominance, and international delusions. His latest tweets are a glaring reminder that Muhoozi is not the leader Uganda needs, but rather a self-serving tyrant willing to do anything to maintain his family’s power. Uganda deserves better than the twisted rhetoric and blind ambition of a man who believes he is above accountability.
