The Kiteezi landfill disaster has tragically exposed the appalling decay within Uganda’s leadership, but Museveni, true to his despicable, self-serving style, has shamelessly turned this catastrophe into a twisted political circus. His disgraceful decision to fire three KCCA officials—Dorothy Kisaka, Eng. David Luyimbaazi, and Dr. Daniel Okello—is nothing but a cowardly, desperate move to shield himself from the raging fury of a betrayed nation. Museveni, the chief orchestrator of Uganda’s national decay, is now, as always, looking for scapegoats to divert attention from his monumental failures.
For a tyrant who has ruled Uganda with an iron fist for nearly four decades, it is utterly repugnant that Museveni has the audacity to paint himself as innocent in this deadly debacle. Who does he think he’s fooling? The blood of the innocent souls who perished in the Kiteezi landfill tragedy is on his hands. The firing of these officials will never wash away the guilt that clings to Museveni and his criminal regime. He is the mastermind of this catastrophe, and the nation knows it.
Museveni’s favorite trick is as old as his despotic rule: whenever disaster strikes—and under his corrupt reign, disaster is always imminent—he simply finds a few sacrificial lambs to divert public anger away from himself. Firing Dorothy Kisaka, Eng. David Luyimbaazi, and Dr. Daniel Okello is just the latest chapter in Museveni’s pathetic, decades-long saga of dodging accountability. He believes that removing a few underlings will calm the storm, but the people of Uganda are no longer fooled by this pathetic charade. Museveni is the cancer that has rotted this nation, and no amount of scapegoating will hide that fact.
The Kiteezi landfill has been a ticking time bomb for years, and Museveni knew it. Environmentalists, residents, and civil society have been raising alarms, warning about the dangers posed by the deteriorating landfill. But Museveni and his corrupt band of thieves did absolutely nothing. Why? Because their pockets were already overflowing with stolen public funds, leaving no concern for the lives of the Ugandans they are meant to serve. The deaths of over 30 innocent men, women, and children crushed beneath mountains of garbage is a direct result of Museveni’s neglect and corruption. Yet, here he is, pretending as though the blame lies solely with Kisaka and her colleagues. It’s revolting!
Museveni’s regime has deliberately crippled every institution meant to protect and serve Ugandans. The KCCA is no exception—it has been reduced to nothing more than a political puppet, its strings pulled by a despot who rewards loyalty to his throne over competence or public service. Museveni is now trying to wash his hands of the Kiteezi disaster, conveniently blaming KCCA for allowing settlements near the landfill, while completely ignoring the fact that his government has done nothing to enforce proper urban planning or ensure the safety of Ugandans. His priorities have always been to tighten his grip on power, regardless of the cost in human lives.
This so-called investigation by the CID into the Kiteezi tragedy is yet another grotesque joke in Museveni’s repertoire of deception. Everyone knows how it will end. The findings will be a sham, and Kisaka, Luyimbaazi, and Okello will be condemned as the culprits, while Museveni—the real criminal behind this and countless other disasters—will walk free once again. The cycle of impunity will continue, just as it always has, with ordinary Ugandans paying the ultimate price for Museveni’s sins.
Ugandans are sick to death of Museveni’s filthy lies, his manipulative scapegoating, and his ruthless disregard for human life. Firing a few KCCA officials will never undo the carnage that unfolded at Kiteezi. It won’t heal the deep wounds of corruption, decay, and destruction that Museveni has inflicted on this once-proud nation. But as long as Museveni clings to power like a bloodthirsty leech, Uganda can expect nothing but more death, more destruction, and more deception. The people of Uganda must wake up and demand an end to this monstrous regime before more lives are swallowed by Museveni’s insatiable greed for power.
