BY CHANGE OF GUARDS
Mindful of the longevity of his presidential tenure as the rallying point of political opposition, Museveni intends to deflate the same. He is planning to announce a step down anytime before the next polls. Indeed, if he declares a step down, the opposition will have the uphill task of going back to the drawing board. Similarly, he is irreversibly bent on having his son inherit the presidency. He so much wishes to see his son’s initial stages of the presidency as he offers guidance from the background. His son’s journey to the presidency stands at 98% success. However, the resistance against the family rule has gained momentum from both within the NRM and outside. Consequently, he has had to adopt the diversionary or distraction tactic, hence Gen. Muhoozi’s recent declaration. Indeed, already gullible Ugandans have bought into the said distraction. Otherwise, the Crown Prince is set to inherit the presidency anytime from now. He has already been selected by the security forces and will be endorsed by the PLU-dominated parliament. That is what was meant by his urging of his PLU aspirants to actively contest in the NRM primaries. It is in the same regard that there is speculation of an impending constitutional amendment for parliament to elect the president. His scheme is to ease political pressure and send the political opposition into slumber, only to wake up one day when Museveni will have handed over the presidency to his son. Otherwise, if he has genuinely abandoned his presidential ambition for 2026, let him declare the dissolution of his PLU.
INFORMATION IS POWER, AND THE PROBLEM OF UGANDA IS MUSEVENISM
