The stage is set for the Uganda U-17 national team — the Cubs — as they prepare to make their historic debut at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025.
Following the official draw, Uganda has been placed in Group K, where they will face global football powerhouses France, Chile, and Canada.

Uganda secured their spot in Qatar after a dramatic 2-1 playoff win over The Gambia in Morocco. James Bogere’s first-half brace sealed the result after Uganda had fallen behind in the opening minute. With this victory, the Cubs became the first Ugandan team in history to qualify for a FIFA World Cup at any level.

Uganda’s participation among the 48 participating nations reflects both the country’s growing football pedigree and the impact of FUFA’s continued investment in youth development.
