Uganda is shackled by the oppressive reign of Yoweri Museveni, a man whose very existence reeks of corruption, betrayal, and tyranny. For nearly four decades, this despot has drained the lifeblood of the nation, leaving behind a legacy of greed, lies, and suffering. Museveni isn’t a leader—he’s a cancer, metastasizing into every institution of the country, devouring resources, and crushing the spirits of Ugandans.
In his New Year address, Museveni displayed his unmatched hypocrisy by lamenting over petty thefts of Parish Development Model (PDM) funds. Yet, the billions being siphoned off by his cronies in the Bank of Uganda and the Ministry of Finance didn’t even warrant a mention. This charade is nothing more than a smokescreen, an insult to the intelligence of Ugandans. Museveni doesn’t fight corruption; he cultivates it. The thieves stealing in the villages are mere distractions while his inner circle plunders the nation dry with impunity.
Dr. Sarah Bireete’s recent critique on UBC lays bare the revolting double standards of this regime. Museveni condemns the villager who steals a goat but shields the gluttonous vampires in his government. His speeches are nothing but drivel, crafted to maintain his image as a “man of the people” while he orchestrates grand theft at the highest levels. Museveni is not just complicit in corruption; he is its architect, its enabler, and its protector.
For 40 years, Museveni has ruled Uganda with an iron fist, leaving behind a trail of broken promises, shattered dreams, and untold suffering. His reluctance to step down is not out of concern for the country but out of sheer greed and fear. He knows that relinquishing power would expose the mountain of skeletons hidden in his closet—embezzlement, human rights abuses, and outright betrayal of the Ugandan people.
Adding to his crimes, Museveni now seeks to undermine police bonds and judicial oversight, a blatant move to tighten his grip on power. His disdain for the constitution is sickening. He treats it as his personal plaything, bending it to suit his whims. This is not governance—it is tyranny. Museveni is not a president; he’s a dictator who has turned Uganda into a playground for his family, cronies, and security forces.
Ugandans deserve far better than this monster who parades himself as a leader. Museveni’s so-called achievements are nothing but the scraps he has thrown to the people while he and his cronies feast on the nation’s wealth. The cries for accountability are growing louder, and the time for change is now.
Museveni’s legacy will not be one of liberation but of parasitic greed, corruption, and ruin. He will not be remembered as a hero but as the vermin who betrayed a nation. Uganda must rise, break these chains of oppression, and consign Museveni to the garbage heap of history where he belongs.
