Ivan Darlington Mwebe Named Young Communicator of the Year in the 2024 PRAU Awards

Ivan Darlington Mwebe, a Public Relations Executive at BrainchildBurson/Fireworks Uganda, has been named Young Communicator of the Year at the 8th annual Public Relations Association of Uganda Excellence Awards held at the Protea Hotel in Kampala.

The annual PRAU Awards celebrate innovation, creativity, and professionalism in public relations within Ugandan organizations. This year’s ceremony was held under the theme “Recognizing Innovation,” highlighting groundbreaking PR campaigns and exceptional professionals shaping Uganda’s communication landscape.

Commenting on his achievement, Mwebe said, “This award is a humbling reminder of my journey, the challenges I’ve faced, the triumphs I’ve celebrated, and the invaluable lessons I’ve learned along the way that have shaped me into the communicator I am today.”

He added, “I am deeply grateful to the team at BrainchildBurson/Fireworks for their invaluable mentorship and for providing me with the space to hone my craft. This recognition fuels my determination to continue pushing boundaries and making a meaningful impact.”

At the same event, BrainchildBurson/Fireworks advertising received the Best Media Relations Award for their “Arresting Attention” campaign created for Uganda Breweries Limited during the launch of their Lemon and Ginger beverage. The agency was also recognized for excellence in Social Media and Digital Communication for their outstanding work on the Pepsi rebrand.

Walter Wafula, CEO of Fireworks Advertising/BrainchildBurson, shared his excitement about the agency’s success saying, “As we celebrate 10 years of #ReputationExcellence, I am delighted that our team’s work has been recognized with such prestigious awards. This recognition affirms our commitment to delivering high-quality and outstanding work that drives growth and transformation in Uganda. We remain dedicated to excellence for our clients and the industry.”

Speaking at the awards gala, the President of the Public Relations Association Uganda (PRAU), Tina Wamala expressed her gratitude, stating, “We deeply appreciate our members, sponsors, and all the professionals who submitted their outstanding work. Innovation is the driving force of our industry, inspiring progress and excellence. Tonight, we celebrate the innovators who elevate our profession.”

Mwebe’s work has enhanced the reputation of BrainchildBurson/Fireworks Advertising and played a key role in shaping the public relations landscape in Uganda.
