The State House Anti-Corruption Unit working with the CID and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) have arraigned and charged six suspects for illegal dealing in minerals.

On 30th September 2024, a team was dispatched to the Airport, for an operation over the matter. Six suspects were arrested.

They include; Kananura Daniel, a Businessman; Mpomba Richard, Clearing Agent at  Entebbe International Airport; Muhwezi Benon, Clearing Agent at Entebbe International Airport; Nkahirwa Pascal, Clearing Agent in Kampala; Mujuzi John Keneddy, a cleaner at the Airport and Bekalaze Ismail, Clearing Agent at the airport.

These were found with 11 plastic boxes containing 300 metal bars they claimed were gold and intended to use the same to defraud unsuspecting persons, especially investors and businessmen.

They have all been charged at the Entebbe Chief Magistrate’s Court with dealing in minerals without a license, mingling minerals with intent to defraud and smuggling minerals. They are remanded till 25/10/2024.
