The tragicomedy that is Uganda’s political scene has reached new depths of disgrace, with two of Kampala’s most pathetic figures, Hon. Kyofatogabye Kabuye and Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, engaged in a despicable blame game that only exposes their shared ineptitude. Both men, utterly devoid of leadership qualities, have turned Kampala into a cesspool of corruption, chaos, and neglect, while the city’s long-suffering residents bear the brunt of their shameless incompetence.
Kabuye’s call for Lukwago’s resignation is nothing but a sick joke. This is a man who has presided over one of the most dysfunctional city administrations in Uganda’s history, yet he dares to point fingers at Lukwago as the cause of Kampala’s mess. Kabuye is nothing more than a sycophantic puppet, dancing to the tune of a corrupt regime, all the while pretending to be a leader. His contributions to the city’s development are nonexistent, his achievements laughable, and his presence in office a colossal waste of taxpayers’ money. He has done nothing but sit in his air-conditioned office, spewing hot air and basking in the perks of a position he doesn’t deserve.
The sheer audacity of Kabuye to question Lukwago’s competence would be comical if it weren’t so infuriating. For Kabuye, a man whose biggest achievement is drawing a government salary for doing absolutely nothing, to criticize Lukwago is the height of hypocrisy. His claims that he has somehow “maintained a good image” for Lukwago are not only delusional but also reveal his utter lack of self-awareness. Kabuye’s pathetic attempt to divert attention from his own failures by vilifying Lukwago is a testament to his desperate desire to remain relevant in a city that has long since lost faith in him.
But let’s not pretend that Lukwago is some innocent victim in this farce. His time as Lord Mayor has been nothing short of a disgrace. He’s a man who promised change but has delivered nothing but empty rhetoric and endless excuses. Lukwago is more interested in playing the martyr than in actually doing his job. His obsession with grandstanding and political theatrics has done nothing for the people of Kampala, who continue to suffer under his inept leadership. He’s too busy parading himself as a champion of democracy in Katonga to actually care about the crumbling state of the city he’s supposed to be managing.
Both Kabuye and Lukwago are nothing but a pair of incompetent charlatans, more interested in their own egos than in serving the people. They are two sides of the same worthless coin, each as useless and as despicable as the other. Kampala has become a playground for their childish antics, a stage for their grotesque display of incompetence. The city is drowning in filth, traffic is an unending nightmare, and basic services are almost nonexistent. Yet these two clowns are too busy hurling insults at each other to do anything about it.
The people of Kampala deserve better than this unending parade of incompetence and buffoonery. They deserve leaders who are willing to roll up their sleeves and actually get to work, not these two jokers who have turned the city into their personal circus. Kabuye and Lukwago should both do the city a favor and resign immediately, taking their absurd clown show somewhere else. Kampala is no place for their disgraceful performance; the city deserves real leaders, not these pitiful excuses for public servants.
