Today was an incredibly blessed Sunday, filled with the presence of the Lord and the joyful energy of our youth. Being Youth Sunday, the service was vibrant, overflowing with dance, music, and heartfelt worship. Our young people led us in a powerful way, their enthusiasm lighting up the entire congregation.
As much as I appreciated the passion, I must confess that the dancing left me a bit unsettled. Being a Pentecostal Christian, I am familiar with worship through movement, but today the dancing seemed a little too wild for my liking. It felt like the boys and girls were caught up more in the motion than in the spirit of worship, as if they were just dancing without a real sense of reverence. However, I reminded myself of 1 Samuel 16:7, where it says, “The Lord looks at the heart.” I trust that despite the outward appearance, their hearts were expressing love and joy for the Lord, and that is what truly matters.
One of the most beautiful parts of the service today was the teaching on the titles of Jesus Christ. Our pastor took us through the powerful names and titles that reveal the nature, authority, and love of Jesus. The first title discussed was Son of God, which reminds us of His divine relationship with God the Father. This title speaks of His unique role, fully God and fully man, sent to bridge the gap between us and God. John 1:14 says, “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son.”
We also reflected on Jesus as the Messiah, the Anointed One, the long-promised Savior who came to deliver humanity from sin. Isaiah 9:6 was shared: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given… and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” This scripture perfectly captures the fulfillment of the Messiah in Christ.
Our pastor emphasized the significance of Jesus as Lord, proclaiming His authority over all creation. Jesus is not a distant figure from the past, but the living Lord who reigns in power today. Philippians 2:9-11 reminds us, “Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow… and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord.”
Another title that resonated deeply with me was The Good Shepherd. Jesus, our Good Shepherd, guides us with love and protects us from harm. John 10:11 says, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” What a comforting thought, knowing that we are under the care of someone who would give everything for us.
Jesus is also the Lamb of God, the perfect sacrifice who took away the sins of the world. Through His sacrifice, we find forgiveness and reconciliation with God. John 1:29 says, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
Lastly, we celebrated Jesus as the Alpha and Omega, the One who is eternal, the beginning and the end. Revelation 22:13 reminds us, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” Jesus holds all things together, from the creation of the world to its final redemption.
After this beautiful reflection, the youth presented a drama about the end times, which was both entertaining and deeply moving. It reminded us of the importance of staying faithful to Christ, especially as we anticipate His return. The message was clear: we must be ready, as Matthew 24:44 says, “So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him.”
As the service came to a close, I felt grateful for the day’s lessons. Despite some of the chaotic dancing, the Spirit was undeniably present. We left with a deeper understanding of Jesus and a renewed sense of joy in Him. Today reminded me of the immeasurable love Jesus has for us and His many beautiful names that reflect His character and divinity.
Let’s carry the spirit of today forward, continually reflecting on who Jesus is and all that He has done for us. Truly, we serve a mighty and loving Savior!
