The Territorial Police at Kira Division has intensified its intelligence-led operations, targeting criminal dens in the Kapela Kimbejja and Kyaliwajala areas. During the night of 27th and 28th May 2024, these operations resulted in the apprehension of 30 suspects.
The individuals are currently detained at Kira Division Police on allegations of unlawful possession of suspected narcotic substances, specifically marijuana.
In addition to the above, CCTV camera operators successfully identified two individuals assaulting members of the public.
One of the suspects, Mutebi Shafic, was arrested in Namugongo Agenda 2000 after hitting a person with a stone. Shafic was apprehended with the stone used in the assault.
The victim was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for first aid, and their details will be provided once they recuperate.
The operations in Kira Municipality are ongoing, with a dedicated focus on eradicating crime in the area.
