Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT |  NCBA announced the commencement of this year’s NCBA Uganda Open that is part of the Junior Golf Series, a 3 days event that took place at the Serena Golf Course in Kigo. The event marked a significant drive to promote and develop golf among Uganda’s young generation.

Since 2019, NCBA has partnered with Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa, and US Kids Golf, a globally recognized junior golf development organization, to introduce juniors to the sport and nurture their skills. The NCBA Uganda Junior Open is more than just a tournament; it is a platform for young players to develop essential life skills such as social interaction, psychological resilience, and physical fitness.

“Our mission is to share the joy of kids learning golf while enhancing their overall development. Through fun-oriented and inclusive junior golf programs, we aim to improve the standard of junior golf in Uganda and qualify elite junior players for international championship events,” observed Mark Muyobo, NCBA’s Chief Executive Officer.

The NCBA Uganda Open Junior Golf Series features multi-day tournaments and camps tailored for junior golfers aged 6 to 18 years. Over 70 juniors from various countries such as Canada, Germany, UK, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, UAE, South Sudan and Zimbabwe have already participated in these events, following the format of the US Kids Golf World Championship.

Participants have the opportunity to qualify for prestigious international events such as the Rome Classic in Italy and the Big 5 Championship in South Africa, contributing to their junior world ranking.

As a testament to its commitment to golf development, NCBA Bank proudly holds the NCBA Uganda Open, every year as part of the NCBA Junior Golf Series.

“Our purpose at NCBA is to inspire greatness, and our support for golf reflects this commitment. We believe not only in empowering our customers to achieve their financial goals by providing exceptional financial services but also in sport development,” Muyobo added.

NCBA Bank stands as a beacon of support for golf across the nation, recognizing its significance as a sport that embodies timeless values and fosters community bonds. Golf seamlessly aligns with NCBA’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework, exemplifying principles of inclusivity, unity, and responsible stewardship.

In parallel with the sport’s ethos, NCBA upholds values of precision, strategic foresight, and the relentless pursuit of excellence in all endeavors.

Rooted in its overarching mission to inspire greatness, NCBA remains steadfast in empowering customers to realize their financial aspirations through a spectrum of unparalleled banking services and unwavering support.

The NCBA Junior Golf Series not only showcases the talents of young golfers but also fosters a culture of education, integrity, friendship, discipline, and self-esteem within African communities. NCBA is committed to promoting diversity in sports and believes that initiatives like these will keep juniors focused, engaged, positively mentored, and empowered.
