The Deputy Commander Land Forces, Major General Francis Takirwa has today presided over the passing-out parade of 614 soldiers upon completion of the Instruction and Junior Non-Commissioned Officers Course at the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy (NCOA) in Gaddafi barracks, Jinja District.

Maj Gen Takirwa implored them to work hard and maintain the success of the UPDF. ” Failure should not be with you. The UPDF has been successful in various operations in Uganda and across the borders. Work hard for continuity in success to maintain the flag high,” said Maj Gen Takirwa.

He observed that improvements in training methods would change the training environment in the UPDF and urged them to replicate the skills they acquired during training.

Brigadier General Alex Olupot, the Joint Staff – Training and Doctrine, underscored the significance of the course despite it being challenging.

He emphasised that the course has produced skilled and capable human resources which will enhance performance in training schools and ultimately strengthen the UPDF.

The Commandant NCOA, Col Saad Katemba, said the trainees were drawn from Kaweweta and Olilim Training Schools to be trained in Instructors Course Level III and Junior Non-Commissioned Officers Course.

Pte Mugish Vincent emerged as the best overall trainee, Pte Biira Movias was best in parade drills, Pte Esinga Thomas was best in the shooting range, and Pte Amusugut Betty was best in class.

Present at the function were the Jinja Cantonment Commander Brig Gen Emmanuel Kanyesigye, Commandant Junior Staff College Brig Gen Chris Ogwal, Deputy Commandant Senior Command and Staff College – Kimaka, Brig Gen Bahwezi, and Commandant Mountain Warfare Training School Col Dothan Kavuma, among others.
