March 28, 2024 (EL-OBEID) – Sudanese warplanes struck a supply convoy belonging to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Thursday near the Hamrat al-Sheikh area in North Kordofan. The convoy reportedly originated from South Darfur.
Since the war began on April 15, 2023, the RSF has relied on the Omdurman-Bara road and the Hamrat al-Sheikh Omdurman road to transport fighters and military supplies from western Sudan to Khartoum. Sudanese military aircraft have intensified operations in recent months, targeting these RSF convoys heading towards Khartoum from North Kordofan and Darfur.
A military source told Sudan Tribune that “military aircraft engaged a supply convoy for the RSF on the road between Sodari and Hamrat al-Sheikh in North Kordofan, destroying it.”
The source revealed the convoy originated in Nyala, South Darfur’s capital, on March 26, and included around 11 trucks carrying multiple tanks destined for Omdurman.
The RSF has reportedly suffered heavy losses in recent clashes with the Sudanese army, including territory in Omdurman, the Umbada suburb, and significant areas of Khartoum Bahri.
