March 28, 2024 (WAD MADANI) – The Hasahisa Resistance Committees reported on Thursday that a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) raid on the village of Al-Takla Jabara in Al-Jazirah State left eight civilians dead and dozens more injured.
The RSF, which took control of the state late last year, faces ongoing accusations of atrocities against civilians. This attack marks the third wave of village raids in the region.
“The RSF carried out a fresh massacre against unarmed civilians in Al-Jazirah State,” a statement from the Hasahisa Resistance Committees obtained by Sudan Tribune reads. “Their attack on Al-Takla Jabara left eight dead and over 30 injured.”
Activists report that the assault is ongoing, with another RSF force targeting the village of Abu Sir. Fears of rising casualties are mounting.
The RSF’s use of lethal force against civilians protesting looting and humiliation tactics raises serious human rights concerns. Hundreds of civilians have reportedly been killed since the RSF takeover.
An activist-circulated video shows a large RSF contingent aggressively entering a wheat farm.
Meanwhile, the military has reportedly bolstered its presence in states bordering Al-Jazirah. Military commanders are said to be discussing a potential full-scale operation to retake the state from the RSF.
