The shooting and arson attack that killed at least 133 people and wounded more than 140 in suburban Moscow on Friday night took place at Crocus City Hall, a popular concert venue with a capacity of more than 6,000. The venue is part of a sprawling, upscale complex of buildings that also includes a shopping mall and multiple exhibition halls.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack on Friday. Video footage from the scene shows assailants shooting outside the entrance to the concert hall, which is located in the building known as Pavilion 3. Several other videos show them shooting inside the concert amphitheater as well.
The attackers also set the building on fire using a combination of explosives and flammable liquid, trapping the injured inside and poisoning some victims with smoke, Russian investigators said. The fire caused part of the roof to collapse.
Crocus City Hall is located in Krasnogorsk, about 15 miles from central Moscow.
