ICEA LION officials receive their award

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | ICEA LION Life Assurance Uganda emerged as a standout performer at the Insurance Regulatory Authority awards, winning multiple accolades for its trailblazing client-centered solutions.

The ceremony, held at Kampala Serena Hotel on Friday, March 15, 2024, celebrated the ingenuity of insurers across Uganda, highlighting their contributions to the industry’s evolution in 2023.

At the event, ICEA LION won two prestigious awards for its groundbreaking products in the non-life and life insurance sector. The company’s Medical Second Opinion and Annuity Plan insurance products were hailed as the most innovative solutions, revolutionizing the landscape of insurance in Uganda.

ICEA LION’s Medical Second Opinion service provides policyholders with access to expert medical advice and guidance from renowned specialists. This innovative feature not only enhances the quality of healthcare provision but also empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their well-being.

Similarly, the Annuity Plan represents a significant advancement in retirement planning, offering customers a secure and reliable income during their post-retirement years with flexible options tailored to individual financial needs and peace of mind for its policyholders.

Thomas Tayebwa, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Chief guest at the event, commended insurance companies for their pivotal role in driving sectoral penetration and safeguarding Ugandans against unforeseen risks. In his address, he emphasized the importance of vigilance against fraudulent activities within the industry, urging insurers to uphold integrity in their dealings with clients.

Alhaj Ibrahim Kaddunabbi Lubega, CEO of the Insurance Regulatory Authority, emphasized the transformative power of innovation in enriching the insurance experience. “As the Insurance Regulatory Authority, we have always believed in pushing the boundaries of what is possible,” Kaddunabbi remarked. “Innovation is indeed a vital ingredient for insurance, enabling us to meet evolving customer needs and enhance industry resilience.”

Reaffirming their commitment to pioneering advancements, Kaddunabbi challenged sector players to embrace change relentlessly, envisioning a future where innovation thrives as the cornerstone of the insurance industry.

Emmanuel Mwaka, CEO of ICEA LION Insurance, expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, “Winning these awards is a testament to our relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation in serving our customers. We are honored to be acknowledged for our efforts.” He added, “I want to thank our dedicated team, partners, and customers for their unwavering support. Together, we are making a difference.”
