The Bank of Africa has stepped forward to extend a helping hand to the mothers of children with disabilities, underscoring their commitment to serving not just as a financial institution but also as a pillar of support within the communities they operate in.
As part of the International Women’s Day celebrations, Bank of Africa is giving back to the community, specifically mothers with children who have cerebral palsy, at the Children in Need School.
Joseph Kityaba, Marketing Manager at Bank of Africa, highlighted the bank’s commitment to the community, stating, “We are here today to support the mothers as a commitment to the country that we not only offer banking services but we are also responsible for the communities that we serve.”
The donation included bed covers, bed sheets, pampers, soap, and toothpaste.
These items will greatly benefit the school and the mothers.
According to Imelda Babirye Namutebi, co-founder of Darraine’s Stitches, a charity that works with the school, “The help that Bank of Africa has given to the school is going to be very helpful.”
“Most mothers are sometimes unable to bring their kids to school because they don’t have pampers, and special children, even at the age of 10, still need pampers,” said Babirye.
“The Bank of Africa coming in and giving these special mothers this support is going to really help them continue bringing their kids to school so that they can learn and also be able to attend the physiotherapy lessons,” she added.
Sister Teddy Nankumbi, of the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, expressed her gratitude to Bank of Africa for their donation.
“We are very grateful to our visitors from the Bank of Africa, who have donated a lot of things.”
The Children in Need Special Needs School was founded in 2001 and works with children with various disabilities, including cerebral palsy, deafness, and those who are unable to attend traditional schooling.
