Adam Murwaana, the musician renowned for the widely popular opposition anthem, ‘TOKA KWA BARA BARA,’ has passed away at the age of 32.

Former FDC Women League Chairperson, Ingrid Turinawe, expressed deep sorrow, stating, “It’s very sad news for the loss of our great friend Adam Murwaana TOKA KWA BARA BARA.” She added, “May your soul rest in peace.”

The singer, whose song gained significant traction during the 2016 general election campaigns, succumbed to complications related to his liver at Doctor’s Hospital in Seguku, a suburb of Kampala.

In April 2023, Murwaana had alleged that he was poisoned. He revealed that he had received a call from a diaspora-based female fan who had requested a meeting.

“When the lady arrived in Uganda, she asked to meet me at a hangout,” Murwaana revealed.

“I found out that my fan had already ordered a pizza, which she was eating. The lady asked me to eat the remaining two slices and also gave me $300 before we parted ways,” he added.

“Since then, I started developing serious liver complications, and my life has never been the same again.”

Several musicians, including Bobi Wine and Haruna Mubiru, attempted to support Murwaana in covering his hospital bills.

Murwaana accused the FDC of abandoning him during his most challenging times, despite composing a song that popularized Dr. Kizza Besigye’s candidacy in the 2016 elections.
