Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Uganda Wildlife Authority has announced an increase in the cost of gorilla trekking permits, effective July 1, 2024. The new pricing structure is as follows:
– Gorilla trekking permits for international visitors will be USD 800 per person, up from the current USD 700.
– East African foreign residents will be required to pay USD 700 per person, an increase from the existing USD 600.
– African passport holders will enjoy a preferential rate of USD 500.
Additionally, the cost for permits to track chimpanzees will also see an adjustment, rising from the present USD 200 to USD 250 per person. These new rates will be applicable for a two-year period, valid until the 30th of June 2026.
