Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Unknown gunmen were lynched after fatally shooting Daniel Bbosa, the leader of Buganda’s Ndiga (goat) clan, on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred near his residence in Lungujja parish, Lubaga Division, Kampala.

Bbosa, driving a vehicle with registration number UAH 637X, was attacked, as depicted in images shared by the Buganda kingdom website and circulated on social media. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Patrick Onyango, the Kampala police spokesperson, confirmed the shooting, stating, “True, the clan head was shot and killed. A mob chased the two assailants and arrested them. They took the law into their hands and killed both of them. The gun and the motorcycle the assailants used were recovered.”

Despite the arrival of police from Old and Katwe policing divisions, the assailants had already been killed by the mob.

The motive behind Bbosa’s shooting remains unknown.

This incident follows the release of the 2023 crime report by the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), revealing that 300 individuals were killed using rifles. The report indicates that a single firearm was employed in at least 22 murders during the same period. Kampala metropolitan South region, encompassing Lungujja, reported the highest number of shooting-related murders in significant parts of the city and its outskirts.
