The body of Derrick Genza, who had been missing since last week, was discovered on the roadside in Bujuuko, Mpigi district along the Kampala-Mityana road. Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, confirmed the finding and stated that Genza’s body has been transported to Mulago hospital for a postmortem. The circumstances surrounding Genza’s murder are yet to be established.
Owoyesigyire noted that it appears Genza was killed elsewhere and then dumped in Bujuuko. The police have collected evidential materials from the scene and submitted them to the police directorate of forensic science for examination.
Naguru Go Down, where Genza used to reside, has gained notoriety for a high crime rate. In a previous incident, Jackline Nakabembe, a student about to graduate from Makerere University, was found dead in a water trench. Her murderer, Dickens Agumeneitwe, was her boyfriend who had recently been released from jail after serving a sentence related to rape and robbery. Agumeneitwe confessed to killing Nakabembe, alleging that she was planning to cheat on him. He used a different phone number to test her faithfulness, and when she reportedly failed the test, he punched her, causing her death. Agumeneitwe is currently facing murder charges for his actions.
