In celebration of its 60 years of existence, dfcu Bank has been actively contributing to Uganda’s agricultural sector, recognizing its significant role in the country’s economy. Patrice Ocungirwoth, Sector Head-Agriculture at dfcu Bank, discusses the bank’s commitment to transforming lives and businesses in Uganda through its Sector Specialization strategy, focusing on agriculture. The bank serves various segments of the agricultural value chain, including input suppliers, processors, exporters, distributors, aggregators, traders, and farmers engaged in livestock, grains, cereals, oilseeds, and coffee.

dfcu Bank actively supports mechanization and value addition in agriculture by financing a range of agro-machinery and equipment. With agriculture employing 68% of Uganda’s workforce, dfcu emphasizes understanding the diverse needs of the sector, offering tailor-made solutions to support primary production, agribusiness financing, and group financing for registered entities like Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Agricultural SACCOs.

The bank reviews its services and products annually to align with customer needs, offering Agric Production Loans, agribusiness financing, and asset financing for value addition and mechanization. dfcu Bank’s Agriculture Sector team provides comprehensive solutions that cater to various agricultural niches, ensuring effective support for Uganda’s agriculture practitioners.

dfcu Bank’s agricultural support products are available countrywide through its extensive branch network and delivery channels. The bank continues to expand its reach to cover multiple regions and sub-regions, supporting farmers and businesses across the country.

As one of the sponsors of the Harvest Money Expo, dfcu Bank aims to share knowledge and connect with stakeholders in the agricultural ecosystem. The Expo, scheduled from February 23rd to 25th, 2024, under the theme “Farming as a business,” provides an opportunity for attendees to learn about dfcu’s financing options and how the bank’s products can transform their lives and businesses in the agricultural sector.
