The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has introduced Dr. Rosemary Alwoc, daughter of the late Dokolo woman MP, Cecilia Ogwal, as their flagbearer in the upcoming Dokolo District Woman MP by-election.
Dr. Alwoc was officially presented as the flagbearer on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, to succeed her late mother, Cecilia Ogwal.
FDC stated that the decision was made after extensive discussions with party leaders and family members of the late Cecilia Ogwal. The party emphasized that the choice to support Dr. Alwoc emerged from a consensus among members, opting not to conduct primaries but to grant the flag to the deceased’s daughter.
“While some party members expressed interest in contesting, the decision to endorse Dr. Olwoc was reached through discussions between the party leadership, the family of the late Hon. Cecilia Atim Ogwal, and FDC members in Dokolo. Rather than organizing primary elections, the party arrived at a consensus among its members,” the party shared on X.
FDC highlighted that Rosemary Ogwal, in addition to being the late MP’s daughter, possesses exceptional qualities and has selflessly continued the work initiated by her late mother, Cecilia Ogwal.
“Dr. Olwoc Rosemary Ogwal is not only the daughter of Imat Cecilia Ogwal but also a candidate of exceptional quality. She has willingly sacrificed her comfort to continue the initiatives that Imat Cecilia Ogwal was deeply passionate about,” the post further emphasized.
The Dokolo woman MP seat became vacant following the passing of the former Dokolo District Woman MP, Cecilia Ogwal, on January 18, 2024.
