The police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of Daniel Bbosa, the head of Buganda Kingdom’s Ndiga clan and a businessman. The incident occurred at 6:00 pm in Kikandwa Zone, Lungujja Parish, Lubaga Division.

Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, provided details of the incident, stating, “The incident involved Mr. Daniel Bbosa, the esteemed head of Ndiga clan and director of Transa Electrical.” He explained that Mr. Bbosa was fatally shot by unidentified assailants as he approached his residence. The attackers, riding on a motorcycle, fired upon Mr. Bbosa’s vehicle, bearing registration number UAH 637X, resulting in his immediate death.

During the act, a vigilant local resident intervened, courageously knocking down the assailants’ motorcycle and alerting the community. The police are actively investigating the incident to uncover the motives and identities behind this tragic shooting.

Owoyesigyire stated that community members quickly mobilized, leading to a confrontation with the assailants. “Mob justice ensued, resulting in the death of one assailant at the scene, while the other remains in critical condition,” he noted.

This incident highlights a disturbing trend where high-profile individuals in Uganda have been killed in a similar fashion, reflecting a concerning pattern of violence targeting prominent figures in the country. The police investigation will likely delve into these broader concerns as they seek to uncover the motivations behind such attacks and bring those responsible to justice.

The disturbing trend of high-profile individuals being killed in Uganda through violent means, reminiscent of cases like AIGP Andrew Kaweesi and prosecutor Joan Kagezi, continues to be a cause for concern.

The annual crime report released by the police earlier this week revealed a grim statistic, with 300 people shot dead in Uganda last year alone. The motive behind such senseless acts of violence often remains unclear, leading to heightened efforts by law enforcement to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

In response to the recent shooting death of Daniel Bbosa, the head of Buganda Kingdom’s Ndiga clan, and businessman, the police have made significant progress. Deputy spokesperson Owoyesigyire reported, “Furthermore, we have recovered the firearm allegedly used in the murder incident, along with the motorcycle registration number UEX 754E, utilized by the assailants during the attack.” He emphasized that these findings would play a crucial role in the ongoing investigation, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the crime.
