Arua, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The FUFA Club Licensing Appeals Committee has decided to relegate Arua Hill Sports Club to the second division league. This decision follows an unsuccessful appeal by the club against the withdrawal of its club license by the FUFA Club Licensing Committee due to non-compliance with licensing regulations.
In a statement issued by Kiiza Decolas Hantali, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of football, the FUFA Club Licensing Appeals Committee upheld the earlier decision and advised Arua Hill Sports Club to prepare for the 2024/25 big league season.
The club’s troubles began in June the previous year when the former Club President, Eng. Joel Jaffer Aita, sold the club due to a lack of return on investment. Subsequent ownership disputes and financial challenges led to a decline in the club’s performance. In December 2023, the club faced Kitara FC with only eight players and no substitutes, conceding seven goals in a single match.
Arua Hill SC, formerly known as Doves All-Stars, had a challenging first half of the 2023-2024 Startimes Uganda Premier League season, finishing at the bottom of the table with 5 points in 15 matches. The club was founded in 2010 by a group of football enthusiasts and was later acquired by Development Infrastructure (DI) in August 2020. The club’s failure to meet licensing regulations in areas such as administration, finance, pitch, and ownership transfer has led to its relegation.
