In a commanding performance in Cardiff on Friday evening, Uganda’s National netball team, the She Cranes, secured a resounding victory over Wales with a scoreline of 64-40, leveling the three-match series and intensifying anticipation for the final duel.
The She Cranes staged a remarkable comeback from their initial defeat on Wednesday, displaying a dominant performance highlighted by a decisive third quarter score of 19-6. This standout quarter paved the way for their overall triumph.
Following their victory in the first game at the House of Sports, Wales experienced a decline in prowess, exacerbated by the loss of joint captain Bethan Dyke to injury. Caro’s Morgan stepped in for her international debut, replacing Nia Jones.
Mary Nuba Cholhok played a pivotal role in the She Cranes’ retaliation, leading them to a 30-24 advantage before halftime.
The third quarter proved disastrous for Wales as Uganda secured a 13-goal lead, setting the stage for a decisive contest. They continued their dominance by opening a 40-27 lead, later extending it to 49-30 before the last quarter. The She Cranes sealed their victory in the final quarter with a score of 15-10, establishing a commanding 24-point gap.
With the series now tied at 1-1, the final match is scheduled for Saturday. This series serves as a precursor for the She Cranes as they prepare for the Vitality Netball Nations Cup in England, where they will face formidable opponents such as Australia, England, and New Zealand.
