Minister for internal affairs, Gen Kahinda Otafiire, says the report entailing the findings from the investigation about the attack on City Pastor Bugingo is not ready yet.
Otafiire says reports about murders are usually delayed, due to the amount of investigation that needs to be done. He expects the report to take at least more than a week, before it is ready and brought to his desk.
Otafiire says, police should investigate the matter thoroughly and give him a detailed report, that wasn’t subject to guess work.
The minister of internal affairs also questioned the attack on pastor Bugingo, as he wondered how the killer got to know where the pastor was going to park, and how he was able to attack a vehicle in motion from the front without fear of being knocked.
Otafiire declined commenting about the whereabouts of Bugingo’s vehicle saying the Police is in a better position to answer that. The minister of internal affairs also said the government cannot provide security for all pastors, even when they’re prone to attacks, as per request by Pastor Martin Ssempa of the defunct Makerere Community Church.
Bugingo was attacked on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, in Namungoona, a Kampala suburb by unknown assassins, who shot at his car registered as Praize God. The attack claimed the life of his driver and bodyguard Richard Muhumuza, a member of the SFC force.
Bugingo made his first public appearance after the attack on Wednesday and thanked God for giving him a second chance to live. The Head Pastor of House of Prayer Ministries also said, he has no one to accuse for the attack.
