The two opposition figures were blocked from leaving their homes on Thursday morning following their call for protests over potholes in the city.

The leader of opposition in parliament Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi has rebuked the home detention of National Unity Platform president Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, and opposition icon Dr. Kizza Besigye.

The two opposition figures were blocked from leaving their homes on Thursday morning following their call for protests over potholes in the city.

LOP Ssenyonyi has rebuked the regime for the house arrest and called upon it to use resources on developmental issues instead of focusing on curtailing those that are raising alarm about the issues in the country that need fixation.

“Politics of Common Sense dictates that the regime should focus resources and energies on fixing roads and other issues of concern to Ugandans, not focusing resources and energies on curtailing those raising an alarm about the issues,” he said.

Ssenyonyi added that the day Uganda begins to exercise politics of common sense is the day Uganda will begin to thrive.
Both Bobi Wine and Besigye announced on social media that they had been put under house arrest and rallies Ugandans to continue with protests in order to compel the government to improve the road infrastructure in the city.

The duo announced that there would to be protests starting Thursday over potholes in the city and denial of Ugandans from using the roads, that were recently improved in preparation for the Non Allied Movement (NAM) summit.
