The Special Investigation Division says it is making strides in the case of the shooting and attempted murder of Pastor Aloysius Bugingo.

Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga announced today, Monday, January 29, 2024, that they have received valuable information from the public, and the task team is diligently following these leads in their pursuit of the suspect and the killer weapon.

The shooting incident took place on January 2, 2024 when Pastor Bugingo was targeted in what appears to be a premeditated attack. The pastor, known for his influential role in the community, miraculously survived the attempt on his life.

Richard Muhumuza, his bodyguard, succumbed to the assault and was confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital, and the police have been actively seeking clues to bring the perpetrator to justice.

“As we have previously communicated, the Special Investigation Division sought assistance from the public regarding information on the pistol or killer weapon and potential suspects. We are pleased to announce that we have received credible information, and our task team is diligently following up on these leads,” stated Enanga during a press conference.

He added, “At an opportune time, when we have gathered sufficient evidence that can lead us to the suspect and the killer weapon, we will provide a comprehensive update to the public.”

The police are urging anyone with additional information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. All information received will be treated confidentially, and individuals providing valuable leads may be eligible for rewards, as per the police spokesperson.
