President Museveni has told the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) to give themselves in to the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) because they have no chance of surviving.

Museveni said on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, that the UPDF has all the capacity to destroy the ADF and that they have no chance of survival, as long as HE Tshekedi allows the UPDF to continue with the hunt for them.

“Come out, otherwise we have all the capacity, as long as Tshekedi has allowed us, you have no chance shall finish you…So therefore, I am calling upon these ADF people to come out and stop wasting our time, if they don’t, they will all perish,” he said.

Museveni said he was glad that some people had been able to escape from the ADF, saying those in his custody are a sample of the many young people that were able to run away from the ADF. He added, that so many people die, whenever UPDF attacked the ADF, and that the latter should stop causing the death of people.

“I’m glad these young people were clever enough to run away and others are running, these are just a sample; but they (ADF) shouldn’t waste our time and cause the death of so many people, because when we attack them, so many die,” he added.

President Museveni also revealed that the machines used to attack the ADF are expensive and consume a lot of fuel, noting that the money being spent on fighting the ADF would be used for the development of Ugandans.

“First of all those machines are very expensive. Secondly, the fuel they consume is a lot of fuel. Then the bombs, which we are using to hunt these criminals, this is money, which we should be using for your development,” he said.

He added that: “We can’t ignore these criminals who are killing people. And that’s why we spend money on this expenditure, which is necessary for security”.

Museveni made the remarks during his State of the Nation address on security matters, specifically ADF attacks, on Tuesday night. His address followed a series of attacks by ADF that claimed many lives in 2023, including two foreign tourists that were killed at Queen Elizabeth National Park.

UPDF has held several operations aimed at bringing the ADF to book, and Museveni is confident that the ADF will be defeated.
