A son of a police officer has died in a suspected bar brawl.
The deceased has been identified as Vincent Ssemata. He was 28, and a son of Cpl Fiikil Ssekate, an officer attached to the Central Police Station, Luweero.
Regional Police Spokesman Sam Twiineamaziima confirmed the incident that occurred at New Style Guest House and Bar, located in Kasoma Zone, Luweero Town Council.
Preliminary findings indicate that on Sunday, January 28, 2024, James Mutebi, the Manager of New Style Guest House, reported on duty and found an unknown person, male adult, dead with deep cut on his neck, near the bar. The deceased would later be identified as Ssemata.
Ssemata was a resident of Kanyogoga village, Bweyayo Parish, Luwero subcounty, Luwero district.
Twiineamziima says: Once the matter was reported, they responded in time and a case of murder by cutting was registered. Scene of Crime was visited and documented by Soco and Homicide Squad from Luwero CPs. Our Canine/Police Dog was introduced to the scene, leading to the arrest of four (4) suspects, to help in investigations.
By press time, the body was at Luwero Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.
