• Uganda Cranes 2-0 Kuwait
National team newbies Ronald Ssekiganda and Alex Kitata were on target as Uganda Cranes sailed past Kuwait with a 2-0 win during an international friendly match played on Friday night in Egypt.
SC Villa prospect Ssekiganda scored in just ten minutes of play after pouncing on Rogers Torach’s headed ball with a flick of a half-volley that bounced past the goalkeeper for Cranes opener.
Second half substitute Kitata doubled the advantage after 85 minutes, after brilliantly connecting home a loose ball that hit the crossbar and got back in play thanks to a Kenneth Semakula initial stunning shot.
On the evening, Joseph Paul Put named a team of local based players. It was his third assignment as Uganda Cranes head coach since succeeding Milutin Sredojevic last year.
Uganda Cranes is fine-tuning for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers’ contest at home against Botswana on June 5, which will be the team’s first competitive engagement this year.
