Heads of State Seen-Off After Attending NAM, IGAD Summits

A section of Heads of State and heads of delegations were on Friday, January 19, 2024 seen off at Entebbe International Airport after attending the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Heads of State and Government meeting and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit.

The President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E William Ruto was seen off by Hon. John Mulimba, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Affairs.

The President of Somalia, H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was seen off by Hon. Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja, the Minister of Defence and veteran Affairs.

The President of Djibouti, H.E Ismail Omar Guelleh was also seen off by the Minister of State for Defence and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Jacob Oboth Oboth.

Others who left the country include; Namibia’s Vice President, Nangolo Mbumba who was seen off by Hon. Kabuye Kyofatogabye, the Minister of State for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs and Mr. Godfrey Kirumira, the Honorary Consul of Namibia to Uganda.

On the other hand, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, H.E Abiy Ahmed was seen off by Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development whereas the Foreign Minister of Angola, Hon. Tete Antonio was seen off by Hon. Ssempijja.

The IGAD summit took place on Thursday, 18th January 2024 at State house Entebbe whereas the NAM summit started on 15th January 2024 and will officially end on 20th January at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
