In a groundbreaking collaboration, dfcu Bank has joined forces with Ekibiina Ky’olulimi Oluganda (EKO), a Buganda Kingdom organization dedicated to promoting Luganda as a language. The announcement came during a press briefing at Bulange in Mengo on Wednesday, January 17, 2023, solidifying their commitment to advancing education in the Buganda region.

This partnership, following a successful collaboration in May 2023, seeks to unite school proprietors, parents, and learners in a shared mission to enhance education accessibility. Brian Katamba, Sector Head of Education and Health at dfcu Bank, emphasized the alignment with the Ministry of Education and Sports’ objective of ensuring “Quality Education for All.”

“As a Bank, our mission is to transform lives and businesses. This partnership with Buganda Kingdom, specifically with Ekibiina Ky’olulimi Oluganda (EKO), is instrumental in achieving the quality education goal within the Kingdom,” said Katamba.

The Buganda Education Skills Expo, scheduled between January 26 and January 28, 2024, at Lubiri Grounds and in Masaka from February 2 to February 4, 2024, will serve as a platform to bridge the gap between schools, parents, and financial institutions.

“We aim to build bridges, connecting schools with parents and financial institutions like dfcu Bank with school proprietors. This will support parents in overcoming school fees deficits for their children,” Katamba added.

Grace Nansubuga Lubowa, Acting Chairperson of EKO, expressed gratitude to dfcu Bank for the partnership, recognizing its potential to positively impact education in the region. Anthony Wamala, a Minister in the Buganda Kingdom, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the partnership’s capacity to grow stronger.

Wamala called for unwavering commitment from all stakeholders to further strengthen the collaboration. He commended EKO for initiating efforts to bring together parents, school administrators, and students to collectively address educational challenges. Additionally, Wamala applauded dfcu Bank for its pivotal role in supporting suppliers, school proprietors, parents, and learners, thus contributing to the improvement of education in the Kingdom.

As the Buganda Kingdom and dfcu Bank forge ahead with this transformative partnership, the Buganda Education Skills Expo stands as a beacon of hope for realizing the vision of quality education accessible to all in the Buganda region.
