On the night of January 23, 2024, a deeply disturbing incident unfolded at Kireku Railway Zone, Bweyogerere Division, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District. At approximately 2300 hrs, the Defense Secretary, Mr. Waiswa Latif, received reports from concerned residents about blood seeping from a locked house. Upon breaking the locked door, the lifeless bodies of Acen Jesca (29) and Ogwal Kenneth (28) were discovered.

The Defense Secretary promptly alerted Bweyogerere Police, initiating a swift response. A police team secured the scene and gathered statements from neighbors, who revealed that the victims were a couple, suggesting a tragic outcome of domestic violence. A knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered at the scene.

Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says the bodies of Acen and Ogwal have been transported to KCCA Mortuary Mulago for a thorough postmortem examination.

“The preliminary findings expose a grim reality: Acen Jesca bore multiple fresh wounds, particularly around her neck, while Ogwal Kenneth, presumed to be the assailant, had a cut around his neck. The crime scene paints a picture of a violent struggle, with bloodstains evident on the mattress,” said Owoyesigyire.

According to Owoyesigyire, the Police in the Kira Division are committed to ensuring a thorough investigation to shed light on the circumstances leading to this unfortunate incident.
