NBS TV and Talent Africa have jointly announced the cancellation of the UB40 Ft Ali Campbell event, originally scheduled for December 21, 2023.
“An abrupt event has been set on Wednesday, December 20, with the head of state, which coincides with our planned soundchecks and setup. Unfortunately, the venue, Kololo, is facing a unique challenge, with over 1000 cars parked for inspection in preparation for the NAM and G77 conferences. These vehicles cannot be moved, posing a significant obstacle to our event setup. The stringent standards required by the UB40 production team for an international artist cannot be met under these circumstances,” stated the organizers in a released statement on Tuesday.
The organizers added, “Our team is working diligently to mitigate the impact of this cancellation and explore potential alternative dates for the event.”
“We highly value our partnership, and your understanding during these unforeseen challenges is greatly appreciated. We remain committed to delivering exceptional events, and we will keep you updated on any developments regarding rescheduling,” reads a portion of the joint statement.
Prior to scheduling the concert, there were concerns about the identity of the artist coming to Kampala, with the original band disowning Ali Campbell. The organizers are assuring the public that they are actively addressing the situation and will keep the audience informed about any further developments or potential rescheduling.
