Sex worker stabbed to death at City Guest House

Police in Kawempe are investigating a case of suspected murder by stabbing that happened at Lufura Zone Bwaise in Kawempe Division.

The deceased has been identified as Nakagwa Easther, 25; a sex worker and a resident of Lufura zone Kawempe division, Kampala district.

The suspect is unidentified and is on the run, Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango said in a statement on Saturday.

It is alleged that today, December 30, 2023, at around 8:00 am, one of the workers of Okatho Inn Guest House located in Bwaise, Kawempe was moving around inspecting rooms, and upon reaching in front of room 4, he saw suspected blood which had flown under the door and immediately notified the Police.

Police responded and visited the scene, Onyango added.

“The scene was thoroughly examined and documented, statements were recorded from relevant witnesses.”

A number of exhibits were recovered from the scene, and they include; the murder weapon (a knife) with suspected blood stain, beer, a box of condom, a used condom, and a bottle of water among others.

“The recovered exhibit at the scene plus suspected blood stains are to be submitted to the forensics laboratory for analysis,” Onyango said.

Police’s findings at the scene and testimonies from eyewitnesses are that the deceased came to rent at the alleged crime scene on October 27, 2023, to do her sex-work-business.

It was also established that the deceased body was partly under the bed in a pool of blood.

The deceased was putting on a white patra with a red blouse soaked with blood.

It was also established that the incident took place on the floor of the room, not on the bed, since there was nothing seen on bed like blood.

Seven Suspects, including the manager and workers of the guest house, were arrested to aid in investigations, and they are being detained at Kawempe Police Station, while the body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary for Postmortem.
