Marketer Susan Nsibirwa is new NMG Uganda MD

Susan Nsibirwa, a seasoned marketer, has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Nation Media Group Uganda (NMGU), the parent company of Daily Monitor and NTV. Nsibirwa is set to assume her role on January 2, 2024, succeeding Tony Glencross, who recently departed the company after nine years.

The announcement was made by Stephen Gitagama, the NMG Chief Executive Officer, who stated, “I am pleased to announce the appointment of Susan Nsibirwa as Managing Director. The role reports to the Group CEO with a dotted reporting line to the Monitor Publications Limited (MPL) board chairman.”

Nsibirwa, currently the Managing Director at Ayiva Consulting Solutions, brings over 25 years of experience in marketing and communications to her new position. She has a strong track record, including 15 years in senior executive roles, and has successfully led corporate, marketing, and communications teams in various industries.

In her new role, Nsibirwa will be tasked with leading NMGU, The East African, and Africa Broadcasting (U) Limited, which operates NTV Uganda and Spark TV. Her responsibilities include driving the long-term strategy, business plans, and annual performance targets to maximize shareholder value.

Gitagama expressed confidence in Nsibirwa’s capabilities, stating, “Please join me in congratulating Susan on her appointment. I am confident that you will all accord her the support required to succeed in this role.”

Nsibirwa’s extensive work experience includes previous roles at URGE – Uganda, Vision Group, MTN Uganda, and dfcu bank. She has a proven track record in implementing strategic corporate social responsibility programs and crisis management plans. Additionally, Nsibirwa is currently a member of the Strategy and Audit, Risk & Compliance board committees of NMGU and serves as the board chair at the African Centre for Media Excellence (ACME), among other boards.

She holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nicosia, Cyprus, and a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Makerere University. Nsibirwa’s diverse background includes roles such as Managing Director at Ayiva Consulting Solutions, Managing Partner at Urge Uganda, Head of Marketing and Communications at Vision Group, and various leadership positions in banking and telecommunications.
