A young couple has been reported dead Wednesday, December 27, 2023, following an alleged domestic brawl at Mosque Zone, Kibuli Parish in Makindye Division, police has stated.

The deceased have been identified as Senkungu Arnold, a 24-year-old barber and Atwine Shina, a 21-year-old student. Their bodies were found by a one Sserunjoji Frank.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, deputy police spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan, says neighbours broke into Senkungu’s house after discovering fresh blood and found him struggling for his life. Senkungu lost the fight upon reaching Kibuli Hospital, whereas Atwine was found dead.

“Discovering fresh blood and locked doors, neighbors forced entry to find Senkungu Arnold alive but succumbing to injuries at Kibuli Hospital. Tragically, Atwine Shina was found lifeless with a deep neck wound,” Owoyesigyire said.

Owoyesigyire added that Senkungu had multiple injuries and that the couple allegedly had a troubled marriage. He also noted that a friend of Atwine had disclosed that she was being mistreated and had purchased a new knife prior to the incident.

“Senkungu Arnold had multiple injuries, and it is alleged that the couple, exhibited signs of a troubled marriage. Atwine Shina had confided in a friend about mistreatment, purchasing a new knife, possibly indicating premeditation,”he added.

Police, with Homicide Unit assistance, uncovered a scene of struggle, a new knife with fresh blood and witness statements recorded to aid the ongoing investigation.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to the City Mortuary pending post-mortem. Police has urged anyone with information to aid the pursuit of justice and promised to avail more information, as soon as investigations are complete.
