In Spire’s view, handing Uganda’s coffee sector to this ministry is akin to pouring gasoline on a fire, setting up the nation’s top export for exploitation by corrupt officials who see Uganda’s resources as nothing more than personal spoils. Image maybe subject to copyright.

In a scorching open letter, Ugandan cartoonist Jim Spire Ssentongo tears into President Museveni’s hollow “reforms,” branding the dissolution of the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) as nothing more than a twisted performance for the Ugandan people. Spire spares no words in exposing Museveni’s administration as a merciless engine of corruption, enriching only the president’s inner circle while abandoning millions of struggling Ugandans.

Spire’s blistering critique highlights the absurdity of shifting UCDA’s duties to the Ministry of Agriculture—a corrupt, incompetent body already infamous for failed initiatives. In Spire’s view, handing Uganda’s coffee sector to this ministry is akin to pouring gasoline on a fire, setting up the nation’s top export for exploitation by corrupt officials who see Uganda’s resources as nothing more than personal spoils.

Through merciless words, Spire denounces Museveni’s so-called “reform” as nothing but a grotesque ploy to centralize power and enrich cronies. According to Spire, Museveni’s actions are driven by pure self-interest, feeding an elite clique while Ugandan farmers are left on the brink of poverty. By dismantling UCDA, Museveni shows he has no intention of truly empowering Ugandans, only deepening their hardships under the facade of reform.

Spire’s message is unmistakable: as long as Museveni and his parasitic cronies hover over Uganda’s resources like vultures, Ugandans will remain disillusioned, impoverished, and angry. His call to Museveni isn’t a plea; it’s an accusation, exposing Museveni’s legacy as one of betrayal, greed, and endless exploitation. In Spire’s own words, Uganda’s coffee sector is not a tool for development in Museveni’s hands—it’s a prize for looting.
