Bobi Wine, once lauded as a voice for the downtrodden, has plunged headfirst into a treacherous pit of his own making. His selfish ambition, fueled by opportunism and arrogance, has led him to betray Buganda—the very heart of his political base. In a gross act of betrayal, Wine has committed the unpardonable sin of turning against the Kabaka and the Mengo establishment, sealing his fate as a political pariah.

No one in Uganda’s history has risen to power without the crucial support of Buganda. Wine, in his sheer folly, has spat in the face of this undeniable truth. The Kabaka, a symbol of unity and strength in Buganda, has been blatantly disrespected by Wine and his pack of online hounds, including the infamous Lumbuye. This alliance of deceit and slander has shattered Wine’s credibility and exposed him as a mere charlatan.

The disgraceful spectacle at the burial of Pascal Ssekasamba in Lwengo District was a low point in Wine’s political career. His shameless attempt to stir unrest by questioning the Kabaka’s whereabouts was a desperate and despicable act. This was not concern—it was a calculated move to sow discord and elevate his dwindling political fortunes. But Buganda is not a playground for cheap political games, and Wine’s stunt was swiftly condemned by the kingdom’s officials.

Wine’s utter failure to understand the power of the Mengo establishment is his ultimate undoing. Like Ben Kiwanuka and Milton Obote before him, Wine’s arrogance and defiance of Buganda will lead to his political annihilation. Museveni, ever the cunning strategist, will exploit Wine’s blunder to the fullest, reclaiming Buganda in the 2026 elections and tightening his grip on power.

Wine’s supporters should open their eyes to the truth: they are following a leader who has not only betrayed them but has also insulted their cultural heritage. The opposition, already fragmented and leaderless, is now led by a man who has lost the very foundation of his support. Wine’s treachery against Buganda is the final nail in the coffin of his doomed political career. The Kabaka will endure, and with him, the political might of Buganda. Bobi Wine, however, will be remembered as a fool who bit the hand that fed him and destroyed his own future.
