The Kiteezi landfill collapse that claimed the lives of 25 innocent Ugandans on Saturday is a gruesome indictment of Museveni’s vile and corrupt regime. This was not a mere accident—it was an inevitable tragedy, born out of the government’s criminal neglect and utter disregard for human life. How long will Ugandans be subjected to the death sentence imposed by this government’s incompetence and greed?

For years, the Kiteezi landfill has been a disaster in waiting. Overcapacity, outdated, and dangerously neglected, it stood as a monument to the regime’s willful ignorance and shocking mismanagement. Countless warnings were issued, experts raised the alarm, yet the regime chose to do nothing. The blood of these 25 Ugandans is on Museveni’s hands, a stark reminder of the cost of his regime’s corruption and negligence. What kind of government allows its people to be buried alive under the weight of its failures?

In the aftermath, Museveni’s regime has predictably thrown a few emergency funds at the grieving families, as if money can erase the suffering or resurrect the dead. This cynical PR stunt is nothing more than a disgraceful attempt to cover up the regime’s culpability. What does this say about a government that believes it can buy off the lives of its people with a few shillings? Can money replace the loved ones ripped away by Museveni’s murderous negligence?

To add insult to injury, Museveni has shamelessly tried to shift the blame onto the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and local leaders like Erias Lukwago. This is a cowardly and deceitful move by a regime desperate to dodge accountability. The KCCA has been stripped of power and resources by the central government, rendering it impotent to address the looming disaster that was Kiteezi. The truth is, Museveni’s regime blocked every attempt to relocate the landfill to Ddundu, choosing instead to line their pockets while Ugandans paid with their lives.

This disaster exposes the rotting core of Museveni’s rule—a government so steeped in corruption and callousness that it is willing to let its citizens die rather than admit its failures. The collapse of Kiteezi is not just a physical catastrophe; it is a moral collapse, a damning reflection of a regime that has lost all legitimacy. How many more Ugandans must die before this government is held to account? How long will Ugandans tolerate being sacrificed on the altar of Museveni’s greed and incompetence?

The death of these 25 Ugandans should serve as a wake-up call. Museveni’s regime is a death sentence for Uganda. It’s time for Ugandans to demand justice, to hold this regime accountable, and to put an end to the reign of a government that is literally killing its own people through neglect and greed. How much longer will the nation endure the murderous corruption of Museveni’s regime? The time for change is now—before more innocent lives are lost.
