Renowned businessman Jonathan Kirasha has passed away. The astute businessman, originally from Muhanga Town Council in Rukiga District, died on Monday morning at Platinum Hospital in Kampala. Brian Kirasha, the son, revealed that his father succumbed to multiple organ failure after battling kidney complications for the past three years.

Jonathan Kirasha is scheduled to be laid to rest on Thursday at his ancestral home in Kandago village, Nyamishenyi Parish, Rukiga District, following a funeral service at Kandago Church of Uganda.

Former Prime Minister, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, offered a glowing tribute to the late businessman, describing him as a great icon and pillar of business. Dr. Rugunda acknowledged Kirasha’s significant contributions, noting that he had been a supportive businessman who assisted and promoted many, similar to the late Apollo Nyegamahe Aponye.

Dr. Rugunda highlighted Kirasha’s political journey, stating that although he was initially a strong member of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC), he later converted to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) after the change in government. Despite the shift in political allegiance, Kirasha continued to use his strength and influence to support and promote the NRM, making a notable impact in his community.
