Ugandan-born fashion model and environmentalist, Judith Heard, have extended her impact beyond runways and red carpets by launching the “50 Million Trees for Africa” campaign through her foundation, Judith Heard Foundation (JHF). This initiative focuses on promoting sustainable development and ecological awareness among youth, starting with educational institutions across Africa.
Judith kicked off the campaign at Kasangati High School in Gayaza, where she planted signature trees and engaged with students to emphasize the importance of conserving nature and addressing climate change challenges. Beyond education, she envisions a future where every child actively participates in preserving the environment, instilling a sense of responsibility and appreciation for nature.
Continuing her efforts, Judith visited the Kasangati Town Council Community to meet with local government leaders and monitor the thousands of trees she planted a year ago. Muhumuza Brian, a publicist at Bryan Morel Publications, highlighted Judith’s passion for this cause and emphasized a call-to-action mobilization, open to partnerships with governments, leaders, organizations, activists, and the public to bring the afforestation movement to life.
The “50 Million Trees for Africa Campaign in Schools” aims to cultivate environmentally conscious leaders and drive social and environmental solutions, starting at the educational grassroots. The initiative addresses deforestation, climate change, and seeks to create green spaces serving as educational hubs for environmental stewardship.
Key components of the campaign include comprehensive educational workshops in participating schools, integrating environmental sustainability into existing academic structures, tree planting events with local communities, and technology integration for tracking the growth and impact of planted trees.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Judith Heard has been invited and set to be honored at the Green Carpet Fashion Awards in Los Angeles on March 6, 2024. The event, co-chaired by influential figures such as Livia Firth, Cate Blanchett, and Zendaya, celebrates young leaders driving climate and social action, uniting the power of fashion and entertainment for positive transformation.
Judith Heard, as Miss Environment Africa and the Goodwill Ambassador for the Environment in Uganda, seamlessly combines beauty with purpose, advocating for environmental action.
