Striker Denis Omedi secured a hat-trick as Kitara resumed their impressive form from the StarTimes Uganda Premier League first round, displacing Vipers SC from the second position in the standings.

The Royals convincingly outplayed UPDF FC with a 3-0 victory at the Bombo Military Barracks Playground in Bombo on Saturday, elevating themselves to 32 points. This places them just two points behind the league leaders, BUL FC, and two points ahead of the Venoms.

Omedi ensured their success on Saturday by scoring his first, second, and third goals of the match at the 57th, 66th, and 88th minutes, respectively.

This marked Omedi’s first hat-trick since he joined Kitara from the FUFA Big League side Booma FC at the start of the 2023/24 season.

Named the Man of the Match, Omedi has now netted eight goals, placing him just one goal behind Maroons’ Fred Amaku and two behind Bright Stars’ Nelson Senkatuka.

Despite the defeat, UPDF finds themselves in the second-to-last position on the table, having lost 11 out of 16 matches and accumulating only nine points.
