On December 28, 2023, the residence of well-known socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan in Gangu C Zone, Busabala, Makindye-Ssabagabo, was burglarized by unidentified assailants.

Luke Owoyesigire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson, briefed journalists on Monday, stating that the perpetrators confronted Zari Hassan, demanding high-value items such as bracelets, phones, and other expensive merchandise.

“The value of the stolen items was estimated to exceed 100 million Ugandan Shillings. The assailants also took a sum of cash before leaving the scene,” Owoyesigire reported.

According to Owoyesigire, the firearm belonging to the security guard, employed by Magnum Security Company Limited, which was taken during the invasion, has been recovered.

“The security guard is from Magnum Security Company Limited. We managed to recover this gun this week on the 23rd. An investigation is ongoing with the help of the recovered gun,” Owoyesigire stated.

Items of evidential value have been carefully collected from the recovered firearm, providing crucial leads in the ongoing investigation.
