Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The murder case of businessman Henry Katanga continues to unfold with unexpected twists. Martha Nkwanzi, the late businessman’s daughter, has been remanded to Luzira Prison for tampering with evidence related to her father’s murder, which occurred two months ago.
Nkwanzi voluntarily surrendered to the court on January 10. The presiding judge, Nakawa Chief Magistrate Erias Kakooza, who had issued a warrant for her arrest on Monday, oversaw the proceedings. According to court records, on November 2, 2023, at Mubya Chwa II, Nakawa Division, Kampala Capital City, Nkwanzi and Patricia Kankwanzi, her sister, knowingly removed or destroyed items at the crime scene that might be crucial evidence in a judicial proceeding. Their actions were aimed at preventing these items from being used as evidence by making them illegible, undecipherable, or incapable of identification.
Both daughters are facing joint charges, along with their mother, Molly Katanga, who is reportedly hospitalized for injuries sustained during the incident. Molly Katanga remains under criminal summons, compelling her to appear in court on January 22 to answer for her alleged involvement in her husband’s murder.
