The State Minister for economic monitoring, Hon. Beatrice Akello Akori, has revealed that the Government is designing a new formular to disburse PDM-funds to Towns and City dwellers.
The Minister made the remarks on Thursday while visiting PDM funds beneficiaries groups in K’ A cell in Kabedopong Market in Bar-dege, Layibi division in Gulu City.
Hon. Akori said the Cabinet is already discussing how to handle Parishes in Cities with thousands of Dwellers, which are more than their counterparts in the districts and rural areas.
The Minister also applauded the beneficiaries, who have used their funds well in advancing their livelihoods, adding that she has directed the RDCs to follow up with people, who have misused the PDM-funds.
Under PDM-funds, each Parish is set to receive a total of 100 million shillings to benefit 100 people.
According to Roy Olal, the Chairperson of Saccos in Kasubi Ward in Gulu City, they received 105 million shillings for the different groups in the ward.
Olal added that many vulnerable people missed the money because there are 24,000 people in Kasubi Ward alone, adding that the government should consider adding more money under the PDM funds.
Ms. Lakaraber Winnie, a beneficiary of the PDM funds from Kabedopong Market, said the funds have helped her to boost her produce business, adding that she expects to grow her business and start trading internationally.
