The mid-season transfer window is open this January and a couple of players are switching destinations in Uganda’s top division leagues as clubs continue to bolster their squads ahead of the league resumption in February 2023.

We bring you players and clubs that have grabbed headlines in this week’s transfer business and all the gossip attached to Ugandan players and those beyond borders.

Richard Anyama to UPDF FC

Goalkeeper Richard Anyama is reportedly weighing in on the available offers from Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA FC) and Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF FC) about his potential move.

Anyama’s imminent move comes after agreeing to leave Arua Hill Sports Club after the end of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League first round.

The former Wakiso Giants and Onduparaka FC custodian joined Arua Hill in 2020. FUFA Big League table leaders Police FC were the other team interested in his services.

Geriga Atendere to NEC?

Roving right back Geriga Atendere is poised to make a move to UPL newcomers National Enterprise Corporation (NEC FC) after announcing his departure from troubled Arua Hill SC.

The Sudanese fullback was a darling in Arua for the Kongolos but decided to find greener pastures at the background of the club’s worrying financial situation. Police FC is the other team that needed his services.

Moses Waiswa leaves KCCA FC

Midfield gem Moses Waiswa has mutually agreed to leave KCCA FC. The club officially announced his departure on Thursday evening. He joined the club in June 2022 on a two-year deal but leaves with six months still valid on his employment contract.

The former SuperSport United player is said to have lost interest in playing for the Kasassiro Boys after being overlooked in squad selection. His next destination is yet to be determined.

Arthur Kiggundu to Kitara FC?

Defender Arthur Kiggundu has reportedly agreed to join Kitara Football Club from Express FC this window. The former Tooro United and SC Villa player rejoined the Red Eagles at the start of 2020/21 season.

At Kitara, the skipper is expected to sign a one-year contract and replace long-term absentee Benjamin Nyakoojo who sustained a career threatening injury. Kuggundu has six months still valid on his contract with the seven-time league winners.

Emmanuel Wasswa back to KCCA FC

KCCA FC has recalled back midfielder Alex Emmanuel Wasswa from his loan spell at Express FC. Wasswa joined Express on loan at the start of this season.

He was pivotal in the Eagles’ midfield after showcasing brilliance during the 15 games of the first round. At KCCA, he will fill the void left by midfielder Moses Waiswa.

Gadaffi Wahab to NEC?

Attacking midfielder Gadaffi Wahab is set to join Uganda Premier League side NEC FC after leaving Arua Hill Sports Club. The free agent has reportedly agreed a two-year contract.

Reports initially linked Wahab to his former coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi at Vipers Sports Club in Kitende. He is expected to reunite with former teammate Geriga Atendere.

Musa Esenu back to BUL FC?

UPL table leaders BUL FC are leading the race to capture Musa Esenu who departed Rwanda Premier League side Rayon Sport. Esenu had his first spell with the Eastern giants before moving to Kigali in January 2022.

He formerly played for Vipers SC, KCCA FC, Soana (now Tooro United) and Kirinya Jinja SS (now Busoga United). The forward is also a target for Gasogi United in Rwanda according to Swift Sports.

Aziz Kayondo makes loan move to Vyskov

Uganda Cranes left back Aziz Kayondo has joined MFK Vyskov on loan in the second division of Czech Republic. He joins on six months from Spanish side Leganes.

Kayondo played half of the ongoing season at Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel on loan before leaving the country prematurely due to war. At Vyskov, he meets countrymates Fahad Bayo Aziz and Musa Ramadhan.
